How would I change the ROOT MySQL Password?

We strongly suggest that you don't change the root MySQL password, as it can cause issues with MySQL starting correctly. This is a cPanel bug within the cPanel VPS software that they should be addressing.
If you wish to view your MySQL root password, you can. Please do the following:

  1. Login to your SSH (Secure Shell)
  2. Run the following command # cat /root/.my.cnf
  3. It should show you something that looks like this:

    Password = **************

That's it! You're your MySQL root password is mentioned above.
