Can I connect remotely to MySQL?

 

Yes, you can remotely connect to your databases. However, there are a couple of things that will need to be done to enable this.

cPanel Account:

  1. Login to your cPanel
  2. Click on "Remote MySQL"
  3. Enter "%" into the top box and click "Add Host"
  4. That's done!

Connecting Remotely:

  1. To connect remotely, you will need a connect string such as:

    mysql -h x.x.x.x -u USERNAME -p DATABASE

  2. Simply replace the "x.x.x.x" with the IP address of your VPS hosting account
  3. Done!

Now you should be able to remotely connect to your VPS.
