Why do I get an error in Fantastico?

When you login to Fantastico on your VPS, you should be seeing a list of applications that can be installed on the left hand side. If not, you may be seeing an error, such as the one below:

"Fantastico is not installed at the default location /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico. Either move the Fantastico directory from it's current location to /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico OR enable ioncube loaders in WHM -> Tweak settings."

If so, there is an easy way to fix this. Please follow the below guideline to resolve this issue:

  • Login to your WHM (Information is in your welcome email)
  • Click on "Tweak Settings"
  • In the "Tweak Settings" page, you will need to find the section that says "PHP"
  • In the "PHP" section, you will see the following line:

"Loader to use for internal cPanel PHP (Use oldsourceguardian for version 1.x and 2.x)"

  • Go ahead and select the option that says "Ioncube"
  • Scroll down to the end of the page, and click "Save"

The above changes, have made your Fantastico work correctly, and now you should see a list on the left hand side, when you enter the page again (please don't forget to refresh that page).
