How to change root password from WHM?

 

The root password is very important to each VPS account and there may come a time when you need to change your password. You can change the root password of your server from WHM using below steps:

  • Login to WHM at: http://yourserverip:2086 (The login information is in your welcome email)
  • From left menu click on "Change Root Password" under "Server Configuration";

    Server Configuration:

    * Basic cPanel/WHM Setup
    * Change Root Password <------ HERE
    * Initial Quota Setup
    * Server Time
    * Statistics Software Configuration
    * Tweak Settings
    * Update Config

  • Enter the new password twice or click on "Generate Password" button to generate it by system;
    Advice: Try to use password with "Very Strong" score.
  • Confirm the new password by clicking "Change Password" button.

That's it. Your password has been changed!
